Village of Lacoste

Lacoste is a french village, located in the departement Vaucluse in the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur. The city is a part of the perimeter of the Parc naturel régional du Luberon.

Walk into the alleys full of history and admire the remains of the Château du Marquis de Sade restaured by the dressmaker Pierre Cardin, his middle-age patrimony and his houses made of stone.

Lacoste offers you many activities, hiking in the Forêt des Cèdres, bike touristic tours, animations, art galeries, wine degustation…

Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque

After a matinee where you enjoyed Ménerbes market, or a walk in the sentier es ocres, you must visit the Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque before coming back to your provencal location.

You will enjoy some moments full of serenity in this valley. You will discover the primitive Cistercienne architecture. You also might be able to buy some local products, cosmestics and honey (even if the yearly production is decreasing).

Les carrières de lumières

At the Baux de Provence, discover an amazing place at only thirty minutes from our house.

After spending the day near the pool of the villa, you will be amazed by the magnificient images projections with some music on the walls of this quarry in the middle of the Alpilles.

Oppède le vieux

Enjoy the end of the morning to open your appetite.

Located to a few minutes of the house, this walk in the heart of the Lubéron last for a hour.

You will discover an old Provence village while crossing the staircases alleys and you might come back to have a lunch in the house near the pool.

Sentier des ocres

The Bruoux ochre undermine with his 50 km of Roussillon or Rustrel galleries. Here is the place where you can find this natural pigment.

The orche was used in first for some rock paintings before being discovered again during the French Revolution. It comes back strongly today.

After being used by many ochre-making, you can visit Rustrel, a pretty village at 9 km of Apt with his XVI century castle. You also have the famous Rousillon village. These are the only Luberon villages to have magnificent one hour walk in the french Colorado. On this path or along the ochre path, the walker is deep into this red and orange universe like in the American deserts.

Village de Gordes

Gordes is one of France most beautiful village, and it face off the Luberon mountain range. Many artists like Chagal, Mara, Vasarely or Lhot get their inspiration from this place and decided to come and live here.

Gordes is one of Provence most famous village.

Gordes’s patrimony is just beauty, houses, magnificent buildings such as two abbeys, water and wind old mills and hundred of cabins made of stone made this village one of the Provence jewels.

Second hand and antique dealers

After London and Paris, L’Isle sur la Sorgue is the third place in Europe for the antique market.

The Easter flea market is now gathering people worldwide.
Along the flea markets, many second hand and antique dealers have settled on l’Isle sur Sorgue. Some have gathered in small village of antique shop, the first was the « Quai de la Gare » in the 80’s. We can also see art galeries and decoration antique shop.

Foret de Cèdres

In 1862, many cedar seeds coming from the mountain of the Atlas (Algeria) were used to reforest the Petit Luberon peak. This mediterranean tree can handle the drought and the forest fire. These trees can live many centuries. The oldest trees have 150 years old.
The cedar forests are often used to produce wood while making sure the forest is renewal constantly.
The cedar is used only for the construction and for the carpentry.

Many visits in Wine Cellars

Le Lubéron owns more then 50 independants wine cellars.

Many wine cellars are open for a degustation, and provided many activities around the Lubéron wine, like walks in the vines.
Wines benefits of the mediterannean weather and the height gave them a great amount of heat during the day. This unique weather and the winemaker’s skills are giving to the Lubéron’s wine all their specific and unique taste.
